Warm tribute to Ballinrobe Musical Society member on his passing

The death has taken place of Billy (William J.) O'Carroll, Creagh Road, Ballinrobe, and formerly of Kilshanny, Co. Clare.

Billy passed away peacefully at University College Hospital Galway, surrounded by his loving family.

In a tribute, Ballinrobe Musical Society extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

It stated: "For the best part of two decades, Billy was among those who laboured away from the limelight on cold, dark winter mornings building the set for our annual show.

"In both the old town hall and Ballinrobe Community School, Billy turned his gifted hands to numerous stages over the years.

"Come show time, Billy kept things running behind the scenes as our capable and competent stage manager.

"In more recent times, Billy donned his best tuxedo at our front-of-house, where he bestowed a gracious and whole-hearted welcome to thousands of people.

"Above all, Billy was one of life’s gentlemen, a man who endeared himself to everyone who knew him."

Predeceased by his parents Bill and Nora, he is mourned by his wife Anne, son Niall, daughter Elaine, and grandchildren Risteárd and Gearóid.

Billy is also survived by his sisters Mary-Carmel and Angela Ennis, brother J.J., Niall's partner Anna and Elaine's fiancé Andrew, brothers-in-law Gerard, Declan, Gabriel, Colm and Mick (partner to Mary-Carmel), sisters-in-law Phyl, Maria and Biddy, nieces Noreen, Jean and Laura, nephews Noel, Patrick, David, Colm, Rory, Cathal and Stephen and all other relatives, wonderful neighbours and dear friends.

Deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved family on their loss.

Billy will repose at St. Joseph's Funeral Home, Ballinrobe (F31 XV63), this evening (Friday) from 5 to 7 p.m., with private removal to his home afterwards.

Mass of the Resurrection takes place in St. Mary's Church, Ballinrobe, on Saturday, at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Ballinrobe.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.
