No progress report on Mayo hospital ED extension due to ongoing dispute

Mayo TD Alan Dillon has been unsuccessful in obtaining an updated report from the Minister for Health on the proposed new emergency department and 75-bed ward at Mayo University Hospital due to an industrial dispute.

He was informed by Minister Stephen Donnelly that management and administrative grade staff in the Fórsa union in the HSE commenced industrial action on October 6.

"As a consequence of this industrial action, members in these grades are not engaging with political forums or processes.

"As a result, the question asked by Deputy Dillon may be delayed in receiving a response directly from the HSE," the minister added.
