Substantial funding approved for east Mayo secondary school
SAINT Louis Community School in Kiltimagh has been approved funding for major refurbishment works, Deputy Michael Ring has confirmed.
The works include various automated features, additional toilet facilities, upgrading of the school lifts, new flooring, new doors, resurfacing of paths and walkways and improvements to the school canteen.
The project will now be going to tender and progressing to the works stage as quickly as possible.
Substantial funding has been allocated to those works.
Said Deputy Ring: “In addition, St. Louis are at the design stage of their multi million extension, which will bring new woodwork, engineering, art, science, technology, home economics classrooms as well as a number of general classrooms.
“In the past school year, St. Louis has received almost €1 million for specialist equipment for their practical classrooms.
“I wish to compliment principal Regina Anderson, all her staff and the students of St. Louis Community School.”
He added: “This a progressive school with 700 students attending. I have no doubt that this funding that has now been announced for the school will be a huge benefit to pupils and to their teachers. I wish St. Louis Community School continued success.”
