Down Syndrome Mayo branch to host party fundraiser

Down Syndrome Ireland, Mayo Branch, extends an open invitation to the community for a significant fundraising event scheduled for Friday, November 24, at 9 p.m. in An Sportlann, Castlebar.

The ongoing challenges posed by COVID-19 have profoundly impacted the funding of Down Syndrome Ireland, Mayo Branch, highlighting the critical need for sustained special services.

Despite these obstacles, the organisation is dedicated to its transformative employment initiative, conducting workshops that educate local employers on the numerous advantages of hiring individuals with Down syndrome.

From recruitment assistance to simplified contracts, the Down Syndrome Ireland employment sector provides invaluable support to local employers. Collaborations with local employment agencies further amplify the reach of this initiative, contributing to a more inclusive workforce.

The upcoming event, with an affordable entry fee of €10 (inclusive of finger food), promises a night of live music and dance to celebrate the unique abilities of individuals with Down syndrome.

Notable contributors, including Special Olympic medallists, will grace the occasion. The event will be documented by Henry McGlade for a TV Ireland broadcast.
