Mayo 'red-tape' plea ahead of new business support initiative
A member of Mayo County Council has made a firm point after welcoming the government's proposed new grants scheme for the business sector.
Councillor Cyril Burke said the application process needs to be simplified so that it goes straight to the business 'without too much red tape'.
He elaborated: "They are already under a lot of pressure with the all the extra costs being loaded onto them such as extra bank holidays, new sick pay policy, increased PRSI, and increased VAT on the catering industry.
"Applications should be proceeded as quickly as possible.
"I am calling on Minister Simon Coveney to get the matter sorted by Christmas if at all possible."
