Christmas concert in central Mayo with James Kilbane and Belcarra Parish Choir

As the festive season approaches, there is nothing quite like the sound of carols and gospel music to lift spirits and prepare for the joyous celebration of Christmas.

And what better way to experience this than by attending 'An Evening of Christmas Carols and Gospel Music’ at St. Anne’s Church, Belcarra, with singer James Kilbane and the Belcarra Parish Choir on Wednesday, December 6? The concert will commence at 8 p.m.

Founded in 1994 under the guidance of Fr. Seamus Cunnane, Belcarra Church Choir has become a beloved institution within the community. Comprised of 25 to 30 dedicated adults ranging from those in their 20s to the young at heart, the choir has consistently showcased their exceptional vocal abilities and deep love for music.

One of the pillars behind the choir's success is the celebrated composer and director, Kathy Fahey, who has been leading the group since 2000, bringing both passion and expertise to their performances.

Under Kathy's visionary guidance, Belcarra Parish Choir has reached new heights in their musical endeavours. From captivating church recitals to regular Masses, their repertoire extends far beyond the confines of the church walls. Kathy's compositions, characterised by their beautiful three-part harmonies, have found an appreciative audience during special occasions, such as Fr. Denis Carney's farewell Mass.

One of the highlights of the festive evening will be the performance of well known country and gospel singer James Kilbane. With his soulful voice and uplifting lyrics, Kilbane has captivated audiences all over Ireland and beyond.

His unique blend of Christian, country and gospel music has earned him a loyal following and established him as one of the most respected voices in the genre. Kilbane’s heartfelt renditions of traditional Christmas carols and gospel favourites are sure to transport listeners to a place of peace and joy.
