Mayo county town mourning death of 'lovely lady' Claire Moore

Mayo's county town of Castlebar is mourning the death of Claire Moore (née Kilcourse), 6 Drumconlon Close, Moneen, and late of 100 McHale Road, Castlebar.

A member of a popular and widely respected local family, she died peacefully yesterday in the loving care of the staff of Mayo Hospice, Castlebar.

A member of the staff of Dunnes Stores for many years, news of Claire's passing has evoked an immense sense of loss in the community where she was held in such high regard.

An affable and kind personality, she will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Claire was a regular participant in the Castlebar International Four Days Walks for many years and made many great friends through walking.

She also played basketball in her youth and won many titles in the sport.

Claire was predeceased by her husband, Richard, parents Mike and Jo, sister Liz and brother Chris.

She is deeply regretted by her loving son James, stepson Michael, brothers Peadar, Michael and Pat, sisters Teresa Mellett and Mary Rose McNulty, daughter-in-law Magdelena, gransons Eoin, Cillian and Éamon, brothers-in-law Eddie, Sean and Michael, sisters-in-law Margaret, Aileen and Collette, aunt Breege Scully, godmother Marie Scully, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and a large circle of colleagues (Dunnes Stores, Castlebar) and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Many warm tributes are being paid to her on social media where she was described 'a lovely lady and a great character'.

Claire will repose in Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar, on Thursday from 5.30 to 7 p.m.

Removal from Coady’s Funeral Home on Friday morning at 10.45 a.m to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m (via McHale Road).

Claire will be laid to rest afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
