Tributes to popular Breaffy woman on her passing

The death of Helen (Nellie) Jennings (née Conway), Lisgowel, Breaffy, Castlebar, is deeply regretted in the community.

In her 88th year, she died peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the wonderful care of Mayo University Hospital.

Many warm tributes are being paid to her on social media.

One stated: "She really was a lovely friendly lady and will be missed by so many people in Breaffy."

"Nellie was a beautiful lady, in every sense, and was greatly loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her throughout her long life," another said.

"Great memories of summers spent in Nellie's welcoming kitchen," a further tribute stated.

She is dearly missed by her loving husband Jimmy, daughters Anne, Marie and Fiona, sons J.P, John and Paul, brother Shaun Conway (Manchester), sisters May Conway (Middlesborough, UK) and Nan Maguire (Liverpool), grandchildren Sorcha, Leah, Emma, Adam, Emily, Jennifer, Sara, Martha, Holly, Tom and Hannah, daughters in law Mairead, Sharon and Linda, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

She was predeceased by her parents John and Mary Ellen Conway, her brother Martin and son-in-law Billy Madigan.

Nellie's Remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home from 5 until 7 p.m. this evening followed by removal to her home.

Removal from her home on Thursday at 11.30 a.m. to St. Aloysius Church, Breaffy, for Requiem Mass at 12 noon.

Funeral afterwards to Breaffy Cemetery.
