Concern about dangerous junction leading to east Mayo nursing home
A DANGEROUS junction on the N17 leading to a Charlestown nursing home has been raised at council level.
An ambulance carrying a patient was nearly hit recently at the junction for St. Attracta's Nursing Home, which is on a very dangerous bend.
It is a busy part of the road, Councillor Gerry Murray pointed out, with 100 residents plus staff and visitors.
Councillor Murray has asked for an update on what type of measures might be implemented at the location.
Head of roads Paul Dolan said the matter will be referred to the regional roads office.
However, he advised at a local municipal district meeting, unless there are accident statistics it is difficult to proceed with any interventions.
