Met Éireann issue status yellow wind warning for Mayo

A weather warning has been directed for coastal counties due to extreme wind, according to the latest forecast.

Take a look below at what the weather has in store for the county.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7

A windy day is on the cards with south east winds gusting up to 100km/h in some areas. The morning and early afternoon will see wet conditions, raising concerns of spot flooding.

Commuters are advised to exercise caution due to difficult travelling conditions, potential fallen branches, and weakened trees.

In the late afternoon and evening, the region can expect a transition with clear spells and scattered showers. Despite the unsettled weather, temperatures will remain relatively mild, reaching highs of 11 or 12 degrees.

However, the fresh to strong and gusty south east to south winds may add to the challenging conditions.

The outlook for the following days suggests continued unsettled weather in Mayo.

Thursday night will bring showers or longer spells of rain, particularly in the west, accompanied by moderate to fresh and gusty south to southwest winds.

Residents can anticipate temperatures ranging from 5 to 9 degrees.

Residents are advised to stay informed about the changing weather conditions, secure outdoor belongings, and exercise caution, especially during the potentially hazardous morning and early afternoon period.
