Awards hat-trick for insurance company led by Mayo native

MONEYSAVE Insurance has scooped the top prize for the third year in a row, retaining its title as the country's best health insurance broker.

The award was presented at the Irish Life Awards in Kilashee House in Naas where all the top health insurance brokers gathered.

It has been an incredible year for Moneysave, so this is the icing on the cake for the company set up and led by Mayo native James Durkan.

Now in its 13th year, gross written premium (GWP) has grown by 33% to €28 million - this is on top of a 25% growth in GWP for 2022. So it has been a record year for turnover and profit.

Durkan says the big increases can be attributed to a number of factors. Moneysave acquired the health book of Acorn Insurance earlier on in the year, staff numbers grew and average premiums increased in the year.

He puts the success of Moneysave down to the amazing team that he has built around him. Managed by Martin McQuillan, the sales manager, Durkan says he has been very lucky to build an incredibly motivated, loyal and knowledgeable team, and without them none of the success would be possible.

With plans for more staff hires and further acquisitions in the pipeline, it looks like the success story that is Moneysave isn't going to slow down anytime soon.
