Calm weather on the cards for the week ahead in Mayo

Expect a respite from gusts and gale force wind after Storm Fergus passes Mayo.

Take a look below at what the weather has in store for the county.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 11

Meteorologists predict a mixed bag of weather to start the week.

The day will kick off on a dry note with spells of sunshine, but as the morning progresses, clouds will gather, giving way to outbreaks of rain in the west by the afternoon.

Temperatures will reach a modest high of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a moderate south to southeast breeze.

The national outlook suggests continued unsettled conditions early in the week, with rain or showers expected.

However, there's a silver lining as the week progresses, conditions are forecasted to become less windy and drier by mid-week.

Monday night in Mayo will see widespread outbreaks of rain persisting, accompanied by some mist.

Overnight temperatures will dip to 4 to 8 degrees Celsius, with light to moderate variable breezes.
