Cost of running Mayo GAA teams rises to €1.23m.

The end of the year Mayo GAA County Board financial report shows that the cost of running county teams in 2023 was €1,233,808.

This is up by just over €150,000 on the cost of running teams in 2022, today's convention of the organisation was informed.

As always, the lion’s share of the costs for running county teams, went to the Mayo senior team.

The breakdown for the 2023 senior team costs were as follows: Player milage, €181,482; team management €82,213; backroom personnel €211,166; meals/catering/nutrition €108,641; travel and accommodation €74,627; gear and equipment €83,545; facility hire €25,245; medical €30,541; Sundry costs €11,412.

The breakdown for the 2022 senior team costs were: Player mileage €169,433; team management €47,516; backroom personnel €148,819; meals/catering/nutrition €97,025; travel and accommodation €71,840; gear and equipment 50,585; facility hire 7,560; medical €51,000; Sundry costs €300.

So, overall, player mileage went up by €12,049’ team management up by €34,697; backroom personnel up by €62,347; meals/catering/nutrition up by €11,616; gear and equipment up by €32,960; travel and accommodation up by €2,787; facility hire up by €17,685; medical down by €20,459; Sundry costs up by €11,112.

There was also a rise match expenses from 2022 with the only exception the share of the gates to clubs:

The referees expenses were up by €27,819; medals and trophies up by €25,663; share of the gates to clubs down by €8,717; match expenses and stewards up by €1,872; streaming was up by €4,196.
