Some local roads in Mayo have fallen off map in digitisation

SOME local roads that have been maintained by the council have fallen off the map in a move from paper to digital.

The issue of roads lost in the reconfiguration was highlighted by Councillor Patsy O'Brien during a discussion on taking roads in charge by Mayo County Council.

Quite a number that were maintained by the council in the past have been taken off the maps, and this needs to be looked at, he told a municipal district meeting.

Engineer Conrad Harley said confusion has arisen in the move from a paper-based system to online and every now and again they come across a road that wasn't moved over onto the new system.

They are trying to correct them as they arise and if councillors could bring forward lists, the council would start looking at them, he said.
