New Granuaile statue installed in west Mayo town
PHASE two of the Two Graces project in Newport has been delivered.
A statue of Granuaile has been installed, looking out to Clew Bay.
The news was announced by Newport Business Association who have developed the project to celebrate the two world famous Graces associated with the area - Princess Grace of Monaco and Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley.
Prince Albert of Monaco unveiled the statue to his late mother earlier this year. Princess Grace's ancestors hailed from Drimurla, just outside Newport.
Now the stunning Granuaile statue, also by sculptor Mark Rode, has also been installed.
An official launch will take place on January 13.
The project has been supported by South West Mayo Development Company Leader funding, Mayo County Council, local political representatives and local fundraising efforts.
