Warm tributes to much-loved Mayo woman on her passing

The death of Eileen Costello (née Mulroe), Ballinafad, Belcarra, and formerly of Ballintubber, is widely mourned.

A much-loved and popular personality, she is deeply regretted by her husband Brendan, daughters Jennifer and Claire, parents Tom and Mary Mulroe, brothers Tom, Noel and Gerry, sister Maureen, brothers-in-law Michael, John and Pat, sisters-in-laws Eileen, Bernie, Margaret, Sinead, Fiona, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents-in-law Mick and Kathleen Costello, sister-in-law Catherine and brother-in-law Gerry.

Many warm tributes are being paid to the deceased on social media.

Fr. Denis Carney, P.P., Ballinrobe and formerly of Balla and Mayo Abbey, stated: "As chairperson of the board of management of Belcarra National School, she gave so generously of herself.

"Likewise as a member of Balla/Belcarra Pastoral Council, she worked tirelessly to build up the parish.

"Eileen was always positive and kind and nothing was ever a problem."

Another tribute: "She was welcoming, caring, open, fun, helpful and generous. She was never without a smile and positive angle. She will be sorely missed."

A further tribute described Eileen as 'a beautiful lady, inside and out."

Her remains will be reposing in Belcarra Community Centre (Eircode F23EK22) from 5 to 7 p.m. this evening (Saturday).

Removal from her family home on Sunday for 11 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. Anne’s Church, Belcarra, with burial afterwards in Guesdian Cemetery, Belcarra.
