West Mayo beach water sports centre goes to tender

PLANS for a water sports facility at Carrowmore beach, Louisburgh, have gone to tender.

The €1.2 million project has been published on etenders, with a closing date in January.

Planning permission is in place for the Carrowmore facility, while a similar project in Keel is going before An Bord Pleanála as it is located in an SAC.

Councillor Peter Flynn asked for an update and when the next phase will be rolling out, pointing out that other beaches in the area would benefit for water sports facilities.

Tourism officer Anna Connor confirmed the Carrowmore progress, with increased Fáilte Ireland funding allocations of €1.2 million for both.

Keel is still with An Bord Pleanála and an update has been requested.
