Good news on the double for progressive Mayo village

Essential roof repair works at Turlough Community Centre are completed.

At the same time, an improvement project on the approach road to the village from Castlebar has been finished.

The roof on the community centre has been secured for many years to come.

A spokesperson said: "We would like to thank Shane and Martin from GPC construction who carried out the repair works.

"We also thank Councillor Ger Deere and Deputy Alan Dillon for their assistance securing grant funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development.

"Funding of over €21,000 was secured for essential works on Turlough Community centre as part of the Community Centre Investment Fund.

"Because of funding like this we can continue to grow our community centre to provide a wide range of weekly activities for all age groups in the area.

"It's also great to see works near completion on the approach road to Turlough Village. Thanks to Mayo County Council, Councillor Al McDonnell and Councillor Blackie Gavin for their assistance with this work."
