Mayo GAA star announces engagement in exotic location

Mayo's Stephen Coen and Charlotte Cooney from Galway, have recently revealed their engagement, sparking an outpouring of congratulations from well-wishers.

Despite hailing from two of the GAA's most formidable rivals, the couple, who explored the far east in recent weeks, culminating in a romantic engagement during their travels in Bali, Indonesia.

Charlotte, better known as Cha on the field, proudly showcased her elegant engagement ring, capturing the adventurous spirit of the occasion with snapshots from a daring kayak tour.

Originally from Roscommon, Charlotte and her Senior Footballing sister, Fabienne, made their mark playing with their local club in Castlerea before transferring to Claregalway.

Both sisters played a pivotal role in Galway's All-Ireland final against Dublin in 2019.

Cha's soon-to-be husband, Stephen Coen, has been a consistent fixture in the Mayo team since his debut in 2015. Coen led both Mayo minor team and Mayo under-21 team to All-Ireland titles as captain in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Coen also captained the UCD senior team to win the 2017/18 Sigerson Cup.
