Legendary rock star visits Mayo island for charity event

Legendary U2 guitarist The Edge has been spending a number of days on Achill Island as part of his festive holidays.

He took part in the New Year's day swim at Dugort Silver Strand, joining hundred of others in the charity event in aid of Achill Island RNLI.

Local Facebook page, What's on in Achill, has been covering his visit on its popular social media platform.

It shared a lovely photograph of him with Alan Gielty, proprietor of Gielty's Bar and Restaurant, Dooagh, when The Edge visited the popular premises for lunch.
