Mayo county town mourns passing of popular personality
The death has taken place of John Gannon, Riverdale Court and formerly of McHale Road, Castlebar.
A popular and respected personality, he died peacefully and suddenly in the wonderful care of the staff of Mayo University Hospital.
He is deeply missed by his loving wife Pat, son David, daughter Elaine (Loftus), sisters Nan Corley and Lilly Guthrie, grandchildren Jack, Joseph, Mairéad, Sarah and Molly, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Helen, sisters-in- law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom deepest sympathy is tendered.
He was predeceased by his son Alan, parents Micksie and Doreen, brother Paddy and grandaughter Eleanor.
Many warm tributes have been paid to him on social media were he was described as 'a true gentleman, always smiling and welcoming'.
John's remains will repose at Coady’s Funeral Home this evening (Monday) from 5:30 until 7 p.m. with removal to The Church of The Holy Rosary, Castlebar
Requiem Mass takes place on Tuesday at 12 noon with committal service taking place at 4 p.m. in Shannon Crematorium.
