Westport supermarket plans extension into neighbouring property

SUPERVALU in Westport is planning to extend into the adjacent JJ Glynn grocer and ironmonger's property, which is a protected structure.

An application to approve the proposed development is currently before Mayo County Council.

The development will include the creation of new toilet facilities, additional shop floor space, an extension to the first floor warehouse, as well as a new two-bedroom apartment at first floor level over JJ Glynn's.

J.J Glynn's, on Shop Street, closed early last year after operating for 99 years.
