Mayo football club's special delivery for US fan
A MAYO football club has a new supporters club Stateside. ·
It may be a small supporters club but the Manulla FC colours are being proudly worn in upstate New York.
While exploring her ancestral roots in the Manulla area, Meghan Leineweber stumbled across the Manulla FC grounds and was so excited she decided to contact the club to enquire about getting some of their leisurewear so she could proudly support the club of her ancestors that emigrated to upstate New York in the 1800s.
“We did love exploring the area and even saw where my great-great-grandfather was born and baptised.
“My family surnames from the Manulla area are Rafferty, Durkan, Hughes and Farrell. They all immigrated to upstate New York in the mid to late 1800s,” Meghan wrote in her message.
The club were more than delighted to support Meghan's request and while they couldn't deliver on time for Christmas, the gear did arrive to her home just a couple of days later.
Manulla FC have shared photos on their social media of Meghan and her family sporting their their new gear.
The club, in a social media post, extended thanks to Deirdre Dunne, kit shop manager, and to Matteo Menarini M2Sport for helping with the quick dispatch of the order.
'Wishing Meghan and her family many happy hours sporting their new gear and we look forward to the next visit from our new supporters club.'
