Second national basketball title comes west to Mayo

On a memorable day for Mayo basketball, St. Brendan's College, Belmullet, have joined St. Muredach's College, Ballina, in capturing a national title in Tallaght.

St. Brendan's were crowned Pinergy Basketball Ireland Under 19 C Boys Schools Cup winners following a hard fought victory over Midleton in the National Basketball Arena on a scoreline of 55-47.

Reacting to the victory, St. Brendan's posted on Facebook: “On behalf of the team and management, we would like to thank each and every person who provided support in any way to the lads today.

“It was fantastic to see so many people from our community today in the National Arena, chanting with our own brilliant staff and students as our lads added to the legacy of our school. Thank you.”

Earlier in the day, St. Muredach's won the Pinergy Basketball Ireland Under 19 C Boys Schools Cup title in the same venue.
