Claremorris Musical Society present hit show Young Frankenstein

AWARD-WINNING Claremorris Musical Society (CMS) are returning to the stage for five exhilarating performances.

From January 31 to February 4, at 8 p.m. nightly in Claremorris Town Hall Theatre, CMS will present its 17th production, the Broadway and West End hit musical comedy Young Frankenstein.

The highly regarded musical group is thrilled to be returning to the stage with this west of Ireland premiere - another high energy and freakishly funny show. Their last production, the Dolly Parton classic 9 to 5, received tremendous feedback.

The talented and experienced production team of Donna Ruane, director, Deirdre Lee, musical director, and Claudia O’Sullivan, choreographer, know exactly how to get the best from the cast and are blessed with an enthusiastic group of committed and talented society members.

CMS is continuously aiming to grow and enhance the group. Over the years, this society has been recognised nationally by the Association of Irish Musical Societies with multiple awards and nominations in the fields of Best Ensemble, Best Actress, Best Comedian/Comedienne, Best Stage Management, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Singer and Best Musical Director.

The society is always looking for new members and audiences will be thrilled to see some new faces along with more familiar ones too.

Principal roles will be performed by David Alexander (Frederick Frankenstein), Mervyn Fahy (Igor), Nicole Scott (Inga), Vivienne Lee (Frau Blücher), Mary Dempsey (Elizabeth), Ger Scott (Inspector Kemp), Enda Mulchrone (The Monster) and Ronan Egan (Harold the Hermit), who all have a wealth of stage experience.

Written by comedy genius Mel Brooks, this hilarious take on the classic monster tale combines zany antics, a witty script, fabulous musical numbers and high-energy comedy performances for one unforgettable adventure in Transylvania.

Young Frankenstein follows the story of brilliant brain surgeon Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous Dr. Victor Frankenstein. When Frederick inherits his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania, he becomes drawn into the world of mad science and reanimation.

With the help of a quirky cast of characters, Frederick attempts to bring a creature to life in the form of his famous ‘Monster’ and navigate the challenges that ensue. Eventually, of course, the Monster escapes, with hilarious consequences.

Alongside a musical score filled with the richness of the Ritz, this is a feast for the senses.

Claremorris Musical Society is, as always, tremendously grateful to the local shops, clubs and businesses who have sponsored and supported this production. Without this support the society and the show simply could not go on.

Tickets cost €18.50 (opening night) and €22.50 for all other nights and are available online at https://townhall.ie/ or by calling the box office on (094) 9310999.
