Count me in's 'The Art Heist' takes Mayo Movie World by storm"

The premiere of the latest Count Me In film “The Art Hiest”, took over Mayo Movie World in Castlebar before Christmas.

The film is the second production by the group to date. It is a farcical comedy which focuses on the fumbling efforts of two bumbling burglars as they try to outwit an equally hapless security guard, much to the dismay of the resident art curator.

The film was shot on location at ATU campus in Castlebar. Participants of “Count Me In” were to the fore of the script writing, design concept, sound, shooting and production of the short film.

Even the “10 million dollar” works of art featured in the film were created by participants.

The film making workshop, where the concept came to life, started in May 2023.

It ran once a week for a duration of four months.

Participants described the workshop as “good fun” and humour was definitely evident throughout. Some even described it as “the best workshop that they have ever done”.

The film stars popular actors such as Adam Nolan, Darragh Rowland, Kieran

Corban and Michael Quinn. Eoin Coffey is the director. Lighting, sound and camera work was carried out by Caoilte Fionn Durcan, Danielle Kelly and Eoin Coffey. The script is the work of all who attended the film workshop in “Count Me In”.

Equipment used for filming was kindly funded by the Local Creative Youth Partnership. We would like to thank them for their ongoing support, this wouldn’t have been possible without them. Another big thank you to ATU campus in Castlebar for permitting us to film on campus. And finally, a thank you to Patrick and all at Mayo Movie World in Castlebar for facilitating the movie premiere.
