Mayo boxer announces decision to turn professional in the UK

Mayo boxer Eoghan Lavin has announced his decision to turn professional.

In a post on his Facebook page, he outlined: "I’m delighted to finally announce what we have been working on the last year: The beginning of an exciting professional career"

He has signed up to work with legendary promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions and his fights will live on TNT Sports.

Stated Lavin: "I am managed by one of the biggest names to ever lace up boxing gloves, Anthony Joshua, and trained by former world champion Anthony Crolla.

"To everybody that made it possible to get here, thank you all."

A native of Midfield, Swinford, he enjoyed a distinguished career with Ballyhaunis Boxing Club, winning eight Irish titles and a European silver medal.

His debut bout will be announced in the coming weeks.
