Structural survey on subsidence at Mayo Peace Park completed
A STRUCTURAL survey of the Mayo Peace Park wall has been completed.
Castlebar Municipal District members were updated on the matter, which has been a source of concern as subsidence has caused damaged in the park.
In an update, councillors were told that structural engineers were appointed in December 2023 to carry out an assessment of the subsidence of the peace park wall.
The engineers have completed their on-site inspection and are compiling their findings.
The assessment focuses on trying to identify the causes and extent of subsidence in the peace park wall and the consultants are currently working on formulating suitable recommendations for both short-term and long-term actions.
The initial report is expected to be submitted by mid-February.
Upon receipt of the report, the council will review the findings and engage in discussions with the consultants to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
Follow-up actions, estimated costs and suggested next steps will be communicated following the review.
