Search ongoing for bald eagle missing in Mayo

Efforts are ongoing to locate a bald eagle missing in Mayo.

Bald eagles are large bird prey which are easily recognisable with their white head compared to the dark plumage of their body.

There have been a number of reported sightings of the bird in south Mayo parishes of Cross and Kilmaine.

A video is also currently circulating on social media of the eagle in a tree.

It includes an appeal to members of the public to report the matter if they spot the bird.
