Planning submitted for east Mayo water scheme
A PLANNING application to deliver a new water supply to 25 households in Kiltimagh has been submitted to Mayo County Council.
The Cleragh Water Committee have had a long-running campaign to get connected to the local water treatment plant in Glore.
The project has now progressed to planning stage, with approval being sought for the installation of approximately 3.5 kilometres of new water pipeline and associated infrastructure (sluice valves, air valves, hydrants, etc.).
The works will include pipework crossing under the Glore River.
The scheme will supply potable water to 25 households in the townlands of Attavally, Lisduff and Ballynamona.
These households are currently supplied from wells and/or streams, with residents facing water quality issues and the risk of running dry during the summer months.
This project, it was submitted, will provide the households with a mains supply that meets drinking water standards.
