Mayo family who lost home in blaze seek support

A young family's world was shattered on a fateful Monday evening when a raging fire engulfed their newly settled home in Lahardane.

After just 15 months since they first moved in, their dreams turned to ash in the fire that tore through their dwelling.

Emergency services sprang into action upon receiving the distress call, with two units of Mayo Fire Service rushing to the scene in Knockfarnaught at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday.

What they encountered was a scene of utter devastation as the linked mobile homes comprising the family's residence were fully ablaze. Despite the ferocity of the inferno, no individuals were trapped inside.

Breathing Apparatus teams worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control, battling the flames. The Ambulance Service tended to a person who had suffered from smoke inhalation, swiftly transporting them to Mayo University Hospital for urgent treatment.

In the wake of this tragedy, members of the community are called on to rally around the family, extending a helping hand in their hour of need.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched, with the heartfelt plea echoing the family's desperation for support. "Hi everyone, we’re after losing our home after only moving in 15 months ago... if anyone could help we would really appreciate it any amount we would be grateful for."
