Mayo travel to Cork in search of more league points

In another crucial weekend of Lidl National League Division 1 action, the fight for final places and to avoid relegation continues apace, with plenty at stake.

Mayo and Cork get proceedings underway on Saturday at 2.30 p.m. in Mallow, a game that will be live-streamed – as will all Division 1 games over the weekend.

With one win and one draw so far, Mayo could do with a few more points to ease relegation concerns.

It’s incredibly tight towards the bottom of Division 1, with Cork and Waterford on three points, ahead of pointless Galway, with Mayo just ahead of the Munster pair on four points.

There are two changes for Mayo from the team that started against Kerry in the last round of games, with All-Star Danielle Caldwell and Jenna Mortimer coming into a reshuffled half-back line in place of Sinéad Cafferky and Erin Murray.

Cork have made two changes following the Waterford setback last time out, with Ellen Twomey and Abbie O’Mahony coming in for Dara Kiniry and Shauna Cronin.

A win for either side here would represent a huge boost as they aim to preserve top flight status for 2025.

The Mayo team is as follows: L. Brennan; A. Fitzpatrick, N. O’Malley, S. Lally; K. Sullivan, D. Caldwell, J. Mortimer; A. Geraghty, H. Reape; F. McLaughlin, L. Cafferky, M. Cannon; T. Needham, F. McHale, S. Walsh.

The Cork starting team is: S. Murphy; M. Duggan, S. Leahy, E. Twomey; K. Redmond, A. Healy, A. Ryan; M. O’Callaghan, A. O’Mahony; E. Jack, L. Coppinger, L. O’Mahony; S. O’Leary, H. Looney, D. Kiely.

The Cork v Mayo and Armagh v Kerry games this weekend will be available to view on the Spórt TG4 YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@SportTG4, while Waterford v Dublin and Galway v Meath are both available to purchase at https://page.inplayer.com/streamsportireland.
