Mayo Young Sports Stars: Great role model and mentor is a top volunteer
Leah Gaughan has been a member of Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club since 2018, when she was 14 years old.
She has competed at national level for the club and has won four All-Ireland gold medals and four provincial gold medals, and competed at the European Championships in 2019.
Apart from all of this competing, Leah is a huge asset to the club and always the first to volunteer to help. She is an active member and is currently the club PRO, continuing in this role from 2023 all while studying adult nursing in Belfast.
She assists coaches at the indoor training sessions and outdoor coastal sessions when she can, and is a great mentor and role model for junior members.
Leah attends and contributes to meetings and is generally always willing to lend a hand at any opportunity. Tullaghan Bay Rowing Club is indeed lucky to have her as an active volunteer.
Leah's great efforts have not gone unnoticed and she will be celebrated for her volunteering work at The Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sports Stars Awards tomorrow (Friday, March 8) in Breaffy House Resort, Castlebar.
