Mayo native claims top spot at prestigious tournament

Conor Heneghan secured the top spot in the MODUS Super Series weekly tournament over the weekend, earning a coveted position in the upcoming Series 7 Champions event.

This weekly competition gathers 12 players who battle it out throughout the week for a chance to compete in the finals group held on Saturday evenings.

Heneghan faced a challenging path to the final. After successfully navigating through a competitive group stage to earn a spot in the main event, he proceeded to edge past both Danny Jansen and Justin Smith in closely contested matches, each ending with a narrow 4-3 scoreline. In the semi-final clash, he maintained his strong form by defeating Carlo van Peer with a solid 4-2 victory.

The final match pitted Heneghan against Andy Boulton, a formidable opponent boasting an impressive 99 average.

Despite the tough competition, the Roundfort native showcased exceptional resilience and skill. In a thrilling conclusion, Heneghan emerged victorious, sealing his first-ever weekly title with a decisive win in the final leg, hitting double five to secure the triumph.
