The latest Linenhall Film Club instalment, How to Have Sex, screens tonight (Tuesday, March 12). A deserving winner of the prestigious Un Certain Regard award at Cannes, Molly Manning Walker’s superb debut artfully addresses vital questions around sexuality and consent. It’s a frank exploration of that confusing time between childhood and adulthood, aptly featuring joyous moments and some more unsettling ones.
Another Linenhall Film Club date for your diary is Tuesday, March 26, with funny road movie Typist Artist Pirate King.
STOLEN CHILD
Kiltimagh Drama Group Clann Machua presents its latest production, Stolen Child, on Thursday, March 14. Written by Bairbre Ní Chaoimh and Yvonne Quinn, set in 1990 it tells the story of a young Dublin woman's efforts to find her birth mother following the death of her adopted mother.
What starts out as a personal odyssey takes us on a fascinating journey into one of the most shameful and dark corners of Irish history, the results of which still continue to haunt.
Stolen Child, directed by Seamus Corry, stars Rebecca Farrington, Ethan Jordan and Finola Mellett.
COMEDY
In comedy news, Gearóid Farrelly sashays onto the Linenhall stage with new show Glamour Hammer on Friday, March 29. For his latest tour, Gearóid looks at the litany of things in our lives that just don’t measure up. Everything from his generic-looking cat to Shania Twain.
Irish favourite Farrelly has previously supported international comedy stars including Joan Rivers and Sarah Millican.
