Funding to address issues at south Mayo crossroads

FUNDING of €83,000 for works at Annefield Crossroads in south Mayo has been welcomed by Councillor Patsy O'Brien.

It is one of the most dangerous crossroads, with people going straight across it. There is signage but the sun impedes motorists, and sat nav also isn't helping as it sees it as a straight road, he said.

Over the last 20 years there has been around 10 low-cost safety schemes in the area and they have all worked well.

He hoped this one too will save lives, he said, speaking at a municipal district meeting.
