Councillor Michael Burke

Safety works urgent at south Mayo bridge

SAFETY works at the bridge on the Kilmaine Road in Ballinrobe are urgently needed.

The call from Councillor Michael Burke comes after a recent near miss where a car mounted the path and a lady was lucky not to be hit.

Works on the bridge, beside the Railway Hotel, were due to take place this year. However, Councillor Burke said they were recently told this won't now be happening until 2025.

It's a busy spot and some sort of safety bollards are urgently needed in the meantime, he told council management at a municipal meeting.
