Gardaí issue witness appeal after latest Mayo N17 road fatality

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the N17 at Barnacarroll, Claremorris, last night.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. and involved a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a male aged in his teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.

No other injuries have been reported.

The road is currently closed for examination by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and were travelling on the N17 between Claremorris and Knock evening between 8:45 and 9:30 p.m. are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
