Victims of Mayo road tragedy to be laid to rest in Donegal

The funeral arrangements have been announced for the three victims, all family members, of last Tuesday’s road collision on the N17 near Claremorris.

Úna Bowden (47) and her daughters Ciara (14) and Saoirse (10), Moycullan, Co. Galway, sustained fatal injuries when the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry.

The family funeral notice stated: "It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the tragic deaths of Úna Mary Bowden (née Carlin) and her beautiful daughters Ciara Mary Bowden (14) and Saoirse Bowden (10).

"Predeceased by her mother/grandmother Mary. Beloved wife and daughters of David.

"Much loved daughter and granddaughters of John, and sorely missed by his partner Jill and the Earls family, daughter-in-law and granddaughters of Gus and Eileen Bowden. Cherished sister and nieces of Eimear and Catriona, brother-in-law and uncle Andrew.

"May their gentle souls rest in peace"

Úna, Ciara and Saoirse will repose at the home of Úna’s father John Carlin, (Carlin Farm) Miltown, Raphoe (F93TH72) from 7 p.m. on Monday.

Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday at 11 a.m. for Requiem Mass at 12 noon in St. Eunan’s Church, Raphoe.

Interment takes place afterwards in the family plot in the Old Cemetery, Convoy.
