Call to replace pyrite blocks in wall along Mayo's N59
BLOCKS that have fallen out of a wall along the N59 in Crossmolina due to pyrite need to be replaced.
Mayo County Council plan a stakes and wire repair but Councillor John O'Hara is insisting that the gaps - in three different locations - be repaired with blocks.
Cattle have come out onto the road as a result of the blocks falling, he said.
The landowners involved had given over the ground for the wall and it has to be replaced with blocks where they are missing.
Councillor Michael Loftus said it was the council who built the wall and really the repairs should be blocks.
Colleagues supported them, saying it is a small job and requesting a costing.
