Top Mayo beach chosen for charity 'Cold Water Dip'

Family Carers Ireland, the charity providing support to family carers across the country, has announced Keem Beach in Achill as a location for its national fundraising event, the exhilarating ‘Cold Water Dip’.

Scheduled for Sunday, April 21, this event calls upon the local community to make a splash for a noble cause.

Each year, the ‘Cold Water Dip’ stands as a unique opportunity for supporters to engage in a fun, spirited activity while championing the invaluable work of family carers.

Participants are invited to register for the event via the Family Carers Ireland website with a modest entry fee of €10.

For those inspired to go the extra mile, an optional fundraising page is available, aiming for a target of €50 per participant.

In addition to Keem Beach, the ‘Cold Water Dip’ will also make waves in Rosses Point, Lahinch, Miltown Malbay, Hodson Bay, and O’Briensbridge.

Participants are welcome to join at these locations or choose their own spot to take the plunge, symbolising their support for family carers nationwide.

Angelina Hynes, from Oranmore, who was named Netwatch Galway Family Carer of the Year in recognition of the care she provides to her daughter Zoe who has Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, shared her enthusiasm.

"The journey of caring is often one walked in solitude, but Family Carers Ireland has been a beacon of hope and support for us. Their assistance has transformed my experience into one of connection and optimism.

“By joining the Cold Water Dip Challenge on April 21, you're not just braving the cold; you're helping to raise crucial funds and awareness.

"This ensures that family carers like me aren't navigating this path alone. Your plunge could be the ripple that helps keep us all afloat."
