Son of the late William and Mary Walsh, Castlebar Road, Ballinrobe, Keith qualified as a solicitor in 2001 and has become the pre-eminent advocate in the country on divorce and family law.

He is a regular media commentator on legal issues of public debate.

The book provides a comprehensive overview of the Domestic Violence Act 2018, with analysis of all measures contained in the Act and procedural developments including new crimes of forced marriage and coercive control.

It also explores the related criminal legislation concerning victims of crime and other criminal legislation dealing with related offences.

Married to Moira O’Connor from Headford, Keith’s book is an invaluable guide for solicitors, barristers, judges, social workers, individuals and rights groups and organisations seeking a practical and easily digestible explanation of recent case law and changes in this area of the law, such as the protections now available to victims of domestic violence including giving evidence by live television link.

Walsh is managing partner of Keith Walsh Solicitors LLP in Dublin.

He is an experienced family law practitioner and in 2021, he was the first family law solicitor in private practice to be appointed senior counsel by the government.

He is a former chairperson of the Law Society’s Child and Family Law Committee and a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers.

Keith also served as president of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, and he proudly flies the green and red flag in the capital.

A large gathering of colleagues, judges and members of the legal profession were in attendance for the book launch at the Law Society’s headquarters at Blackhall Place.

Speakers at the auspicious event included the Attorney General Rossa Fanning SC who official launched the publication, President of the District Court, Judge Paul Kelly and co-author Sonya Dixon BL.

The book is published by Bloombury Professional.

A sizable contingent travelled up from the West for the launch including Mr. Justice John Jordan (Castlebar), solicitor Una McEvoy (Toomore, Foxford), Michael O’Connor SC (Headford), Patrick Murphy BL (Ballinrobe) and Castlebar-based solicitor John Geary (Pontoon).
