Footpaths in Mayo county town need attention

FOOTPATHS around Castlebar are in urgent need of attention.

Elected representatives have aired their concerns at a municipal meeting.

Councillor Michael Kilcoyne said it is a 'serious situation', highlighting one area, down at the Sacred Heart Hospital, where elderly people are out walking and face 'huge cracks' in the footpath.

“Things like that should be given priority,” he told management.

Councillor Blackie Gavin highlighted a number of other areas in the town too, such as Woodlawn Park and Lakeshore Drive.
