League of Ireland: Derry City win drops Shamrock Rovers down the pecking order

A 1-0 win for Derry City at home saw them get ahead of Shamrocks Rovers in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division league table.

The Candystripes welcomed Bohemians to the Bandywell, where an 85th minute goal from Michael Duffy sealed the win.

Meanwhile at Tallaght Stadium, there was an action-filled 90 minutes between Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's Atheltic.

A goal from Aaron Green in the opening five minutes put the home side ahead, but Luke Turner shot back in the 23rd, leaving it level at the half-time whistle.

Daniel Cleary gave Rovers the lead again at the hour-mark, but St Pat's wasted no time in levelling this time, with Mason Melia finding the net just minutes later, leaving it 2-2 to the final whistle.

At Tolka Park, Shelbourne had to fight back after an early goal from Frantz Richard Pierrot for Drogheda United put the hosts' position at the top of the table in jeopardy.

Shels didn't find their equaliser until the 60th minute, when Sean Boyd netted, with the draw leaving them just a point ahead in table terms but still on top.

A hat-trick from Maleace Asamoah helped Waterford to a 4-1 win over Dundalk.

Christie Pattison added to Waterford's tally, but the only response the visitors could summon was a 22nd minute effort from Robbie Benson.

Finnally, Sligo Rovers travelled south to meet Galway United, where the westerners played out a scoreless draw.
