Fianna Fáil running 13-strong team in Mayo local elections
Fianna Fáil has confirmed the nominations of of 13 candidates to the party’s Mayo local elections ticket.
The candidates handed in their nomination papers.
The candidates contesting the elections for the party for the first time include:
•Mr David Alexander – Ballina Electoral Area
•Mr Stephen Nolan – Claremorris Electoral Area
Alongside sitting councillors:
• Cllr Michael Loftus – Ballina Electoral Area
• Cllr Sean Carey – Belmullet Electoral Area
• Cllr Annie May Reape – Ballina Electoral Area
• Cllr Paul McNamara – Belmullet Electoral Area
• Cllr Al McDonnell – Castlebar Electoral Area
• Cllr Blackie K. Gavin – Castlebar Electoral Area
• Cllr Martin McLoughlin – Castlebar Electoral Area
• Cllr Damien Ryan – Claremorris Electoral Area
• Cllr Adrian Forkin – Swinford Electoral Area
• Cllr John Caulfield – Swinford Electoral Area
• Cllr Brendan Mulroy – Westport Electoral Area
Reflecting on the party’s local ticket after handing in their nomination papers, local TD, and Minister of State Dara Calleary said, “These fantastic candidates bring unique and complementary strengths and abilities to our ticket here in Mayo.”
Calleary continued: “Fianna Fáil is the largest party in local government right across the country, and these candidates are passionate about tackling the issues that are important, and if elected, I know they would do an excellent job representing the people of Mayo.
He concluded: “Fianna Fáil are consistently making a real difference to people’s lives and livelihoods, and we hope to continue that work in Mayo with these candidates.”
