Afternoon tee back on the menu at top Mayo establishment

Tolster's Golf Society have returned to the fairways, with this season's schedule of events well under way and a series of regular outings continuing until October.

Captain Paul Harte and president Fish Cunningham continue to lead the society into 2024, supported by the committee.

Beginning in Castlebar Golf Club in March, a Tolster's Golf Society scramble proved to be a great success. This was followed up in April with an outing to Castlebar that was won by the fore-midable Joe Cuddy, closely followed by John Coyne (secretary) and Mark Tolster (handicap secretary). As always, the society’s home club was in great condition and provides a good test of golf.

A sunny day at the beach at Mulranny Golf Club was next up on May 9, with stalwart Sean Mangan victorious, pipping John Nugent and Gerry Walsh in second and third place respectively.

The course was immaculate and a very enjoyable day was had by all involved, including the winning visitor, John McEvily.

As always, players returned to Tolster's Bar in Castlebar for the presentations and a lively reception by Gerry and the team, with a fantastic meal and hospitality, plus one last chance for all to get up and down in the the prizes in the post-round raffle.

The next outing will take Tolster's Golf Society to Westport Golf Club tomorrow (Thursday, May 23).

Competition for the annual Player of the Year Award (sponsored by Austin Quinn) is heating up, with plenty of events remaining to ensure a strong race to the finish at the end of the season.
