West Mayo school's accommodation issues to be raised in Dáil today

ACCOMMODATION provision for Holy Trinity National School in Westport will be raised in the Dáil today.

Plans for a new school on the former Scoil Phadraig site in the town have been stalled after the Department of Education offered the site for use by the local girls secondary school.

Deputy Michael Ring is raising the matter with the Minister for Education in the Dáil this morning as one of the Topical Issues selected by the Ceann Comhairle, scheduled for discussion from 9.10 a.m.

It is 14 years since a Department of Education evaluation deemed Holy Trinity's current school building as ‘not fit for purpose’.
