National cup title secured by Mayo schoolboys

The first year boys team from St. Gerald's College, Castlebar, have secured national silverware.

The Mayo schoolboys won the FAI Schools First Year Boys National Cup with an extra-time victory over Willow Park Senior School, Blackrock, Dublin, this afternoon.

A highly entertaining game was played out in the Athlone Town Stadium, where St. Gerald's ultimately claimed victory by two goals to one.
