Action plan sought to tackle speeding on busy Mayo approach roads

An action plan is being put forward to help tackle speeding on the busy approach roads into the town of Balla.

Councillor Donna Sheridan has called on Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII ) to install solar-powered vehicle activated speed sighs on the N60 approach roads to the town between the 50km/h and 60km/h zones.

The matter is being considered at next Wednesday's meeting of the Castlebar Municipal District.

The Fine Gael representative is also spearheading a campaign for the return of Mayo Day to the county town of Castlebar.

"The event's history is rooted in Castlebar and it is a significant date in the calendar of the town," she stated.
