Mayo Under 17 Girls Cup and Shield finals down for decision

THE Under 17 girls cup and shield finals take centre stage in the Mayo Women's League programme this week.

Both finals are down for decision this Tuesday evening, May 28, in Castlebar.

The Under 17 Cup decider will see Westport United and Kiltimagh Knock United going head to head at Celtic Park, kicking off at 7.15 p.m.

Down the road in Umbro Park, Milebush, Swinford FC and Ballyvary Blue Bombers meet in the Under 17 Shield final.

Football action last weekend centred on the women's leagues.

It's tight at the top in the Premier Division where Manulla and Swinford both recorded wins to sit joint top on 12 points. Manulla took full points against Straide & Foxford, 5-1, with Swinford 2-0 winners at home against Kiltimagh Knock United.

Conn Rangers lost out to four Louise Dowling goals for Castlebar Town to now sit on nine points on the table.

Two games were played in Division One where the race is really on with no less than four teams on nine points - Killala with a 100% record after three games, with Westport United, Claremorris and Ballina Town also on nine.

Claremorris enjoyed their third win on the trot in a keen 3-2 contest away to Ballinrobe Town, where the home side missed a late penalty to share the spoils.

Kilmore were 2-0 winners over Crossmolina with goals from Jessie Whelan and Roisin Greene at their home pitch in Belmullet.
